Malone wins Muskingum Spring Golf Invitational

ZANESVILLE -- With the medalist, second place and fourth place individual finishers, Malone University captured team title of the Muskingum University Spring Golf Invitational played at EagleSticks Golf Course.Malone finished with a overall team score in the two-day event of 558 to far outdistance second place Mount Union with a 603 score. Otterbein College was third with a 611 total and Calvin College (Mich.) claimed fourth with a 613.Baldwin-Wallace College and host Muskingum tied for fifth place with identical 625 scores followed by Capital University (626), Ohio Northern University (654) and Denison University (663).Justin Lower of Malone was the medalist with a two-day score of 133 followed by teammate Richie Schembechler with a 136. Scott Miller of Mount Union finished third individually with a 141 and Michael Strayer of Malone came in fourth at 146.Tyler Light (Malone) and Ben Kuiper (Calvin) tied for fifth place individual honors at 148, while Brock Neighbors (Otterbein) and Daniel Zaborsky (Capital) tied for seventh at 150.. Ben Smith of Malone and Cody MacLean of Otterbein tied for ninth place with identical 151 scores.James (J.J.) Mickey paced the Muskies with 153 total that tied him for 13th place individually. Joel Ardner was in a eight-way tie for 20th place with a 157; Erik Nesbit finished in a four-way tie for 28th place (159); Josh Colyer was tied with two other golfers in 33rd place with a 161; and Joey Garrett was knotted in a three-way tie for 47th place with a 167.Other Muskingum golfers that didn't figure in the team score were: Joey Shroyer, tied for 39th place with a two-day total of 163; Nicholas Kull in 53rd place (172); Ryan Sopko in a tie for 55th place with a 174; and David Snider in 62nd place with a 183.NEXT -- Muskingum will play next in the Denison University Invitational on April 10-11.
