COLUMBUS -- Utilizing the home-run ball the first game, the Muskingum University Lady Muskies split a double header with the Ohio Dominican University Lady Panthers at Panther Field Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Muskies blasted four homers in the opener to claim a 13-5 mercy-rule, five-inning win, but behind the pitching of Ohio Dominican ace Staton the Lady Panthers rebounded for a 7-0 shutout in the second contest. It was all Muskingum in the opener as catcher Aly Mazzei, firstbaseman Mary Margaret Boda, right fielder Holly Norris and third baseman Chloe Moloney all went yard and the Lady Muskies scored in every inning but the second. Ashley Price picked up the pitching win with a pair of strikeouts and no walks. Erin Sutter (5-7) took the loss for the Lady Panthers with one strikeout and one walk and had relief help from Etter who added one strikeout. Boda also had a double and single to go with her round-tripper and Moloney added a single to hers. Jendy Weppler and Price tacked on a pair of singles each. Crislip had a double and two singles to lead Ohio Dominican, while Archer and McCartney each cracked a double and Baker added a pair of singles. In the nightcap, Staton limited the Muskingum bats to just four hits with shortstop Apryl Patterson collecting the only extra base hit, a double. Staton (10-5) went the distance fanning two and walking none. Carissa Diebler suffered the loss for Muskingum (12-10) working into the sixth frame with one strikeout. Valerie Conn worked one-third of an inning with two walks and Sarah Beaver finished it out with no strikeouts or walks. Ohio Dominican (17-16) cranked out 11 hits in the second game led by Archer with a double and single and Crislip with a double. Erin Sutter, Kelley and Chaney each added a pair of singles.
