Muskingum men fourth, women sixth at Wilmington Invitational

WILMINGTON -- Muskingum University's men's track team finished fourth and the Lady Muskies were sixth in the Wilmington College Invitational Saturday. Host Wilmington claimed the men's team title with 191.5 points followed by Huntington University (130), Franklin College (129.5), Muskingum (98), Mount St. Joseph (48), Bluffton (45), Wittenberg (39), Transylvania (23) and Heidelberg (12). The Muskies were paced by freshman Chase Addy (Newcomerstown), who won the pole vault with a vault of 14-5.25 and Jarryd Ridgeway with a win in the javelin throw with a heave of 171-3. Finishing second for Muskingum were: Greg Chumney (John Glenn) in the 1500-meter run (4:09.04) and Alex Seaholm in the 400-meter dash (52.22). Claiming third place finishes were: Chris Dague in the 110-meter hurdles (17.2), Jeff Ickes in the long jump (20-10), Demetrius Bailey and Addy in a four-way tie in the high jump (5-10) and the 4x100-meter relay team of Bailey, Donte Artis, Ickes and Sebastien Ferjuste (43.80). Wilmington College also claimed the women's title with 147 points followed by Huntington University (114), Mount St. Joseph (93), Wittenberg (86), Franklin College (84), Muskingum (83), Bluffton (46), Transylvania (25) and Heidelberg (2). Leading the Lady Muskies scoring with first place finishes were Jana Wyatt in the pole vault with a vault of 10-6 and Hannah Hilliard in the triple jump with a leap of 33-7.25. Elizabeth Fisher was second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.81) and Katie Sidwell was second in the discus throw (125-3). The Lady Muskies claimed both second and third in the 100-meter hurdles with Nicki Sharrock finishing second (16.57) and Kaitlin Jereb third (17.39). Sam Bice (Tri-Valley) was second in the javelin throw with a toss of 106-3 and teammate Kelley Crater followed in third place (105-0). NEXT -- Muskingum will compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship hosted by Mount Union on Friday.
