COLUMBUS — Zak Geiger of John Glenn High School narrowly missed All-Ohio status with a ninth place finish in the 3200 meter run at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.

To be an All-Ohioan, an athlete must finish in the top eight.

Geiger took ninth in the Division II boys’ 3200-meter run in 9:57.77. John Glenn’s 4x800-meter relay quartet of senior Jonah Carson, sophomore Woody Jamiel, senior Brandon Dolick and Geiger shattered the school record (8:13.22) despite finishing 16th in Division II.

In semifinals contested on Friday, freshman Hannah Gregory of John Glenn placed 13th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.69) and 14th in the 100-meter dash (13.07).
